Native Grasses
We grow a selection of Ozbreed native grasses for use in the local north coast environment. These grasses compliment our range of environmentally friendly turfgrass varieties, with the primary focus on water quality and availability. All of the grasses we offer are proven low or no water users and are equally at home, beit in a residential landscape on on a larger roadside project.
All of our plants are available in 140mm pots.

Nafray is an environmentally friendly Australian native grass. It has excellent drought tolerance and with a very low seed viability, makes it a non invasive variety and a safe choice for areas close to natural bushland.
Description
Nafray is a compact clumping perennial grass with fine green foliage and a spectacular display of cream coloured feathery looking flowers in Summer through Autumn. It grows to a height of approximately 800mm and the flowers to one metre.
Position
Nafray is a very adaptable plant. It will tolerate a wide range of soils, likes full sun and has a good tolerance to frost.
Uses
Mass plantings, feature or accent plants for more formal gardens, rockeries. Ideal for use in low maintenance and water wise gardens.
Maintenance
Mulch well. This plant can be cut back during May to August. Fertilize with slow release fertilizer in late winter.

Dwarf Blue Kangaroo Grass
Description
Mingo is an attractive and versatile low growing Australian native grass featuring stunning blue grassy foliage. Plants need annual trimming, they thrive in most soils and are drought and frost tolerant. It is a form of Kangaroo Grass with rusty coloured semi prostrate seed heads. It flowers over summer. It spreads about 60cm in diameter and stands approximately 250mm tall.
Position
Grows well in both sunny and part shaded areas.
Uses
Ideal for rockeries, as a low border, erosion control and coverage on slopes and as a vigorous groundcover.
Maintenance
Requires regular watering at establishment. Older foliage should be trimmed annually and application of a controlled release fertilizer is recommended in Spring and Autumn.

Imperata cylindrica is the perfect erosion control plant due to it's vigorous rhizomes.
Description
Imperata makes a great ground covering grass with it's rustic foliage tones of khaki green and reddish brown in winter. Flowers are a white with a fluffy seed head in Spring. It will grow to a height of 700mm and will spread to approximately 1 metre in width. It is an excellent drought tolerant plant.
Position
Imperata is suited to awide range of soil types from sand through to heavy clays. It is a grass which tolerates full sun and slight shade, however it will tolerate extremely low temperatures and frosts during winter.
Uses
Ground covering, protected areas, natural garden areas and major roadside erosion control.
Maintenance
This plant is very low maintenance and as such one annual application of controlled release fertilizer will suffice.

Description
Tanika is an improved compact, fine leaf form of the ever popular Lomandra longifolia. This attractive selection has a deep green coloured leaf and attractive yellow flowers. It is proving to be one of the toughest and most reliable landscape plants over the past couple of years. It grows to a height of 50 - 60cm and will spread to approximately 65cm.
Position
It grows well in full sun and moderate to heavy shaded positions. It will tolerate a wide range of soil types however it will not survive in prolonged wet areas or saturated soils. Do not bury the crown of the plant when planting. This plant is ideal for hot dry and humid areas as well as tolerating heavy frosts.
Uses
Ornamental gardens, roadsides, native and low water requirement gardens, feature areas and border mass plantings.
Maintenance
Water is required for establishment of this plant. Once established, water can be stopped. Trimming of Tanika is optional. An application of a complete plant food is recommended in Spring and Autumn.
