Sir Walter Buffalo has a deep green colour throughout the year. Unlike other buffalo varieties, Sir Walter does not go purple in winter, however it will go into dormancy just like all other warm season grasses if it is subjected to constant low temperatures and frost.
Sir Walter Buffalo is one of the few warm season grasses which will tolerate shaded conditions. Sir Walter does still require sunlight for satisfactory and sustained growth, however it will perform well under trees and in areas that other warm season grasses will not.
